Welcoming the Class of 2028 - Part IX

Today we move up to 45 new recruits which is exciting, as it hasn't happened for quite some time now.

Up first is a new Statesmen that attended my old team and roommate's alma mater, Westhill HS (NY). DE/TE Trey Dillabough is a big (6' 3" and 240 lbs.) pass rusher based on his highlight reel.

Out of the Brooks School (MA), Gabriel Nwobi is a tall (6' 3"), rangy DB who has sound technique and an eye for the football. You can check out his highlight reel here.

Another future Statesmen from nearby Irondequoit HS (NY) is Vincent Jiang, an OL/DL prospect, standing 6' 1" and 230 lbs. He looks like a sound blocker and run stuffer at the LOS. You can check out his highlight reel here.

After a lot of new faces, here's a familiar one hailing from Webster Thomas HS (NY). We met TE/DE Sean Meyers back in early March of this year.

Last but not least is a veritable "Swiss army knife" of an athlete in The Haverford School's (PA) RB/PK/LB Matt Brosko. He gained over 3,100 yards and scored 33 TDs in his 28-game varsity career. You can check out his highlight reel here.

Will we get to 50? That's a great question to have to ponder as we wait for another day of future Hobart College Statesmen commitment announcements.

Welcoming the Class of 2028 - Part VIII

Now this is getting the exciting with an incoming class of at least 40 new Hobart College Statesmen! I'll have to go back, but I'm pretty certain this is the largest recruiting class under HC Kevin DeWall '00 to date.

Let's meet the next group:

Starting us off today is Irondequoit HS (NY) WR/DB Jordan Nolan. What he lacks in size (5' 7" 170 lbs.) he makes up in strength and speed, boasting a sub-4.4 40-yard dash number in his Hudl profile. You can check out his highlight reel here

Another nice get from a strong program, Boys Latin School (MD), FS/DB Tyrell Moore is an athletic student athlete with good field vision and play making ability. You can check out his highlight reel here.

Next is Haldane HS (NY) QB/DB Ryan Van Tassel. Time will tell if he'll end up in the QB group or in the secondary, but Ryan had a lot of success his SR season, passing for almost 600 yards and throwing seven passing TDs. He added another 600+ yards of rushing and nine TDs on the ground. You can check out his highlight reel here.

Somerville HS (NJ) OL/DL Braeden Kaye is likely going to end up on the defensive side of the ball. Standing 6' 2" and weighing 225 lbs., Braeden has quick feet and gets to the ball with the speed of a LB. We met him back in March.

A candidate for "best name", Cardinal Hayes HS (NY)'s DB Corey Rock will be the latest Hobart College Statesmen on the team from CHHS (Abdoulaye Diallo '24 and rising JR DL Denzel Silver being the others). You can check out his highlight reel here.

That's 40 so far. Will see if there any more recruits to talk about tomorrow.

Welcoming the Class of 2028 - Part VII

Now comes the "fun part" for me, as most of these new Hobart College Statesmen going forward are new players I haven't seen before on Twitter or otherwise.

Starting us off today is Pioneer HS (NY) FS/WR Dalton Giboo. Unfortunately the only highlights I could find of him were from basketball, so he's clearly a strong multi-sport athlete.

Not sure if Gonzaga College HS QB Aidan Conrath is the future leader of the Hobart offense, but he looked impressive when we first met him back in February

Whomever ends up the starting QB for the Class of 2028, there's a chance they will be getting the ball from St. Luke's School (CT) C Mark Dodaj. You can check out his highlight reel here

From Fort Lee HS (NJ), another new name is LB Kendry Peralta. He looks like a sound tackler with good field vision and closing speed. You can check out his highlight reel here

Out of McQuaid Jesuit HS (NY) is RB John Harding. He racked up almost 1,800 yards of offense his senior season and scored 23 TDs! You can check out his highlight reel here

That's it for this group. Will we get to 40+ new Statesmen? Time will tell.

Thanks as always for reading and go 'Bart!

Welcoming the Class of 2028 - Part VI

This next group takes us to 30 new Hobart College Football Statesmen.

Starting us of is a recruit I swear I've seen already, but I don't have a post on him, so maybe not. Sayville HS WR/DB Luke Hansen looks like a strong add to either the offense or defense. You can check out his highlight reel here.

Up next is a nice get from Deerfield Academy (MA), a school that Hobart doesn't get many students out of in recent years. We met Xavier back in February.

Another new recruit for the OL/DL is Emerson-Cresskill HS (NJ) Zack Adams. With imposing size (6' 5" and 280 lbs.), Zack is a nice get for Hobart. You can check out his highlight reel here

Tanner Bracchy is the second half of the "Dynamic Duo" Hobart recruited out of Delaware Academy HS (NY).

Last but certainly not least, is Skyler Simon out of St. Paul's School in MD. Hobart usually doesn't get too many commits from the DMV, so this is a nice get for the Statesmen. Skyler looks like a potential KR, DB or WR based on his speed and ability to allude tacklers. You can see his highlight reel herehis highlight reel here

That's it for this latest group. More to come this week.

Welcoming the Class of 2028 - Part V

Let's keep it going with the next group from the Class of 2028.

We start off with a brand-new recruit out of the Hill School (PA). A WR/SS in HS, Tristan Reynolds is a strong student (3.9 GPA) who has good size (5' 11" and 190 lbs.) and speed (4.5 forty-yard dash). You can check out his highlight film here

Fairport HS two-sport athlete Jackson Rucker committed to play football and baseball at Hobart. We met him back in February

Another new recruit from my home state of Florida is Braedon Serna of Cardinal Gibbons HS (Fort Lauderdale area). Braedon is a big and strong LB (6' 2" and 215 lbs) and hard to stop when he blitzes the QB. You can check out his highlight reel here

From nearby (Syracuse area), Christian Brothers Academy's WR/FS Jason Brunson is another new recruit we haven't seen before. You can check out his highlight reel here. He looks like a good get for Hobart as a deep safety.

Getting us up to 25 is another new recruit, Matthew Huliev from DePaul Catholic HS (NJ). He looks like another strong LB that'll fit well into Hobart's defensive system. You can check out his highlight reel here.

That's it for today. Congratulations to the Class of 2024, who graduated today up in Geneva. May you all lead lives of consequence in your chosen life's pursuits!

Welcoming the Class of 2028 - Part IV

We keep it going with this next extended group of future Hobart College Statesmen.

Up first is Germantown Academy's (PA) Anthony Lara. We met Anthony at the end of March

From nearby Jamesville-Dewitt HS is a recruit I haven't seen before, OL Hayden Fleet (great name btw). Hayden seems to be an athletic big guy, able to pull at the LOS and pave the way for his backfield. You can check out his highlights here

Tabor Academy's (MA) Perry Goodridge was the second Hobart recruit I reported on back in January.

Up next is Bernards HS (NJ) DB Jaden Phillips. We met Jaden back in early March

The first of two Delaware Academy HS commits, we met Angelo Krzyston back in February.

So that's 20 new Statesmen as of today, with more to come.

Welcoming the Class of 2028 - Part III

Here's the next five newly minted Hobart College Statesmen for the Class of 2028.

Starting us off is Lawrence Academy (MA)'s Sam Healey. We first met Sam back in January

From right under Union grad and Ballston Spa Mayor Frank Rossi's "nose", Hobart picked up a great student athlete and young man in Jacob Powell. He met him back in March

A new commit from my home state of Florida, is coming up to Hobart from Carrollwood Day HS in the Tampa area. Based on his film, it looks like Trent can make an impact at either interior DL/OL.

Another "Irish Linebacker" for the Statesmen is coming up to Hobart from Vestal HS in the form of Logan McNamara. We first met Logan back in March.

The second of two incoming student athletes from West Orange HS (NJ). we got to know Jake back in January.

That's it for today's round. More to come tomorrow.

Welcoming the Class of 2028 - Part II

Let's keep the introductions rolling with this next group of incoming Hobart College Football student athletes:

Hailing from the Lone Star state, SR DB Sean Kessner of McKinney North HS was pretty much the first person who I found that committed to Hobart back in January

A new member of the Class of 2028 that I hadn't seen before is OL/DL Reed Bouchard from nearby Penn Yan Academy (NY). Standing 6' 3" and weighing 265 lbs., Bouchard seems to be very quick for a guy his size. You can see some of his highlights here

Up next is a young man from my home state of CT, Daniel HS WR Owen Preskar. We first got introduced to Owen back in February. He's a nice get from one of the best HSFB programs in the state.

We first met Hanover HS DL John Regan back in April. Regan is one of a few incoming DL prospects, which is a key spot to replace and add depth after this past season's graduations.

Last but not least, is another new face in the crowd, Susquehanna Valley HS RB/OLB Ian Harder. He was a key player on SVHS, scoring 10 TDs, amassing 85 total tackles and racking up over 600 receiving yards. You can check out his highlights here

That's it for today, ten down and probably at least another dozen or more to go.

Thanks as always for reading and go 'Bart!

Welcoming the Class of 2028 - Part I

Hobart Football HC Kevin DeWall '00 took to social media this morning to officially begin introducing the incoming Statesmen Class of 2028. With massive delays in the FAFSA this year, a lot of families had to wait before making formal commitments, so these announcements are about a month later than usual.

That said some of these names are familiar to me from previous "Twitter sleuthing", but I am sure there will be some new names to see and get to know in the next week or so.

Without further ado, let's revisit the Class of 2028:

Starting us off is Javon James of Scranton HS (PA). I posted about him back in January, as he was an Early Decision commitment.

Next is Commack HS QB Jeremy Weiss, one of a handful of strong QB recruits in this class. I posted on Jeremy a couple of days before Javon.

A new commit that I haven't seen yet is SR PK Collin Goff from Ransom Everglades HS from here in FL. Standing 6' 2" and 185 lbs., Collin has good size and a strong leg. You can check out his highlight reel here.  It looks like he will be in the mix as either a KO, PAT, FG kicker or punter.

An important addition to the special team's unit, I posted about Conor back near the end of January.

Another new name to the group, and apparently a second commit from West Orange, HS (more on that later). SR RB/SB Rayel Hunter looks like a strong, straight ahead RB prospect who can catch the football out of the backfield and make tacklers miss because of his speed and footwork.

You can check out his highlight reel here

Come back tomorrow for another round of updates. Thanks as always for reading and go 'Bart!
