Welcoming the Class of 2028 - Part III

Here's the next five newly minted Hobart College Statesmen for the Class of 2028.

Starting us off is Lawrence Academy (MA)'s Sam Healey. We first met Sam back in January

From right under Union grad and Ballston Spa Mayor Frank Rossi's "nose", Hobart picked up a great student athlete and young man in Jacob Powell. He met him back in March

A new commit from my home state of Florida, is coming up to Hobart from Carrollwood Day HS in the Tampa area. Based on his film, it looks like Trent can make an impact at either interior DL/OL.

Another "Irish Linebacker" for the Statesmen is coming up to Hobart from Vestal HS in the form of Logan McNamara. We first met Logan back in March.

The second of two incoming student athletes from West Orange HS (NJ). we got to know Jake back in January.

That's it for today's round. More to come tomorrow.

Welcoming the Class of 2028 - Part II

Let's keep the introductions rolling with this next group of incoming Hobart College Football student athletes:

Hailing from the Lone Star state, SR DB Sean Kessner of McKinney North HS was pretty much the first person who I found that committed to Hobart back in January

A new member of the Class of 2028 that I hadn't seen before is OL/DL Reed Bouchard from nearby Penn Yan Academy (NY). Standing 6' 3" and weighing 265 lbs., Bouchard seems to be very quick for a guy his size. You can see some of his highlights here

Up next is a young man from my home state of CT, Daniel HS WR Owen Preskar. We first got introduced to Owen back in February. He's a nice get from one of the best HSFB programs in the state.

We first met Hanover HS DL John Regan back in April. Regan is one of a few incoming DL prospects, which is a key spot to replace and add depth after this past season's graduations.

Last but not least, is another new face in the crowd, Susquehanna Valley HS RB/OLB Ian Harder. He was a key player on SVHS, scoring 10 TDs, amassing 85 total tackles and racking up over 600 receiving yards. You can check out his highlights here

That's it for today, ten down and probably at least another dozen or more to go.

Thanks as always for reading and go 'Bart!

Welcoming the Class of 2028 - Part I

Hobart Football HC Kevin DeWall '00 took to social media this morning to officially begin introducing the incoming Statesmen Class of 2028. With massive delays in the FAFSA this year, a lot of families had to wait before making formal commitments, so these announcements are about a month later than usual.

That said some of these names are familiar to me from previous "Twitter sleuthing", but I am sure there will be some new names to see and get to know in the next week or so.

Without further ado, let's revisit the Class of 2028:

Starting us off is Javon James of Scranton HS (PA). I posted about him back in January, as he was an Early Decision commitment.

Next is Commack HS QB Jeremy Weiss, one of a handful of strong QB recruits in this class. I posted on Jeremy a couple of days before Javon.

A new commit that I haven't seen yet is SR PK Collin Goff from Ransom Everglades HS from here in FL. Standing 6' 2" and 185 lbs., Collin has good size and a strong leg. You can check out his highlight reel here.  It looks like he will be in the mix as either a KO, PAT, FG kicker or punter.

An important addition to the special team's unit, I posted about Conor back near the end of January.

Another new name to the group, and apparently a second commit from West Orange, HS (more on that later). SR RB/SB Rayel Hunter looks like a strong, straight ahead RB prospect who can catch the football out of the backfield and make tacklers miss because of his speed and footwork.

You can check out his highlight reel here

Come back tomorrow for another round of updates. Thanks as always for reading and go 'Bart!

Hanover's Regan Commits to Hobart

Welcome to April! I hope everyone had a nice Easter and Passover.

Our latest update on the Class of 2028 will be from Hanover HS (MA) SR DL John Regan. One of the captains of the Hawks, Regan racked up 65 total tackles, six sacks, 11 TFL and one FF his senior season.

You can check out his highlight reel here.

From the film you can see he gets a good push up the LOS with a lower center of gravity and good hips, which helps his swim moves towards the ball carrier. I also wasn't surprised to see he is also on the wrestling team, based on how he gets off the ball and tackles.

Please join me in welcoming John and the extended Regan family to the Hobart College Football one.

Germantown Academy's Lara Likes #TheHobartWay

Germantown Academy (PA)'s SR RB/FS Anthony Lara posted on his Instagram account last week that he's "both extremely excited and humbled to announce my commitment to Hobart College and continue my academic and athletic career! Thank you to my family, my coaches, and my teammates. Thank you Coach DeWall and the Hobart coaching staff for believing in me and this opportunity. A special thanks to my loved ones for the countless hours spent supporting me on the football field! #TheHobartWay ๐Ÿงก๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿค"

Lara has some great football instincts and is a shifty runner in open space. You can check out his highlight reel here.

I imagine the recruiting news around the Class of 28 will slow down until regular decisions are posted in April. I expect HC Kevin DeWall ''00 to take to twitter to start introducing the incoming class around that time as well.

In the meantime. please join me in welcoming Anthony and the extended Lara family to the Hobart College Football one!

Thanks, as always for reading, how about those B2B National Champion "Skatesmen", and go 'Bart!

Somerville's Kaye Selects Statesmen

Although they clearly didn't know that it's Hobart College, I appreciate the coaches and/or sports information people at Somerville HS (NJ) for the following announcement. They tweeted out yesterday that: "Congrats to Senior Braeden Kaye on his commitment to @HobartFootball! Braeden finishes off a great career at The Ville and will no doubt make an impact at the next level."

Braeden is a 6' 2" 225 lbs. OL/DL prospect who played on the interior line on both sides of the ball at SHS. He used his quick feet to be a disruptive force on the DL. He is a bit undersized to play at NG in college, but Hobart's 3-man front has leveraged smaller, quicker guys like Braeden with success.

You can check out his highlights here

Please join me in welcoming Braeden and the extended Kaye family to the Hobart College Football one!

Vestal's McNamara Decides on Statesmen

Yet another strong student athlete for the incoming Class of 2028 just announced on Twitter/X yesterday when Vestal HS (NY) SR DE/OLB/TE Logan McNamara stated he has "committed to [Hobart] to continue my athletic and academic career!"

A fairly versatile athlete, with good size (6' 195 lbs.) and speed (4.62 40-yard dash), I imagine Logan will get consideration for offense and defense. He has sound fundamentals as a OLB/DE. He scrapes to the ball well and has a quick first step on blitzes and pass rushing plays. He's not a bad blocker or receiver either as a FB/HB/TE. You can check out his highlight reel here

Please join me in welcoming Logan and the extended McNamara family into the Hobart College Football one.

More recruiting news to come. Thanks for reading and go 'Bart!
