Three More Recruits Declare Commitment to Statesmen

While it's a new decade, the one thing that hasn't changed is Twitter effectively being the official app for future college student athletes to let the world know where they will be playing in the fall. It's been a good week for the Hobart College Football team as three more recruits have committed to the program.

These new recruits include:

Boston College High School (BCHS) SR CB James Mahoney: A 5' 10" 180 lbs. cover corner, Mahoney has good field vision and the ability to shed blocks and close out plays. His highlight reel can be seen here.

Another MA native and CB/WR, the Pingree School (South Hamilton, MA) SR Zach Manuel tweeted out his commitment to Hobart College also. A taller, lankier player at 6' 2" 175 lbs., Manuel will bring some height and length to the defensive secondary. His highlight reel can be seen here.

Last, but certainly not least is Red Jacket HS (Shortsville, NY) SR WR/DB Chase Rizzo. He tweeted out that he was:

"honored to say that I will be continuing both my academic and athletic careers at Hobart College! Thank you to everyone who has supported and helped me get to this point!"

He is seen below with DC Aaron Backhaus '00 (who was recently honored as the Ability Partners Foundation Volunteer of the Year at the 17th annual Winter Gala and Auction in the Finger Lakes.)

Speaking of height and length, Rizzo is 6'4" and runs a 4.6 40-yard dash thanks to his long strides. While he certainly has the hands and feet of a WR, I could see Coach Backhaus wanting him in the defensive secondary.

Please join me in welcoming the Mahoney, Manuel and Rizzo families to the Hobart Statesmen one!

Thanks for reading the blog and, as always, go 'Bart!
